The first Apples for Eggs event took place in Altrincham (where Swift lives) in autumn 2011, with 10 swappers. 'About 80 items were swapped, from bags of home-grown tomatoes and apples to loaves and jams. It was a huge success,’ Swift says. Since then there have been 14 swaps held across the country, with more locations to come later this year. So far 200 people have attended (they limit numbers at the swaps to a maximum of 20), swapping about 3,500 items of home-grown or homemade goods.
